Processing…
We’re taking the day to process current events here. I woke at 5 am to the news of Bin Laden and watched America’s celebratory reaction with odd curiosity. This is an historic moment to be sure, but I feel the gravity of the situation, myself. The most relevant post I’ve seen on Facebook is “2,752 ≠ 1.” (Thanks to Loren Feldman for that.)
Most disappointing is the animosity with which Americans are turning Bin Laden’s death into a battle of presidents. That’s not the American I want to be… Even in this, we cannot come together? Truly sad, and so typically divisive.

A day to process is very wise, and something I'm doing as well. Like you, I'm also frustrated by some of the reactions I've seen, especially those that turn this situation into a weapon either for or against certain people. I also hope that there isn't a wave of backlash brewing; but then again, that may just be the pessimist in me talking.
I've been feeling this way too. I haven't read much about the political reactions, just the spontaneous public ones, which is probably for the best… it's hard enough to think about such an event clearly without politics muddying the waters.
I'm with you… still taking some time to let it all sink in and get my own feelings in order.
